I have made my fair share of mistakes since I started chasing all of my crazy goals. This journey started as a simple side hustle. It slowly morphed into me finding my entrepreneurial spirit. Before, I wouldn’t have even known what that meant.

I have learned over time that being an entrepreneur is a lifestyle, not a job description. It’s a mindset that lets you follow your heart towards passion-based businesses ideas. A way to use your strengths to impact others in profound ways. It’s a journey of self-development, and a path of allowing yourself to fail, sometimes miserably.

And like I said, I have made my fair share of mistakes.

Some of them were massive, and some of them were small. Some things seemed right from the outside, but my heart was telling me that they just weren’t. Those were the hardest to let go of.

Over time making these decisions for myself has improved my confidence and shown me what I am capable of. Every big decision I have made so far has created lasting effects that have impacted my every fiber, and I am so grateful for them.

My biggest turning points and how they affected me:

Realizing That I Do Have The Time

When I took the plunge to start selling on Amazon, I realized that I could find the time to work on my side hustles if I really wanted to. Turns out, flipping isn’t really my passion, but suddenly I wanted to figure out what was.

Invest Wisely

When I tried to white label a product on Amazon and made the biggest marketing mistake of all: not defining my avatar. Most of all, this side hustle taught me that I am a terrible negotiator and that I do not enjoy risky investing at any level!

That moment that I started a mom blog out of desperation at 1 am. I never would have forked out the money for website hosting if I wasn’t almost $1k in the hole from my Amazon failure! But, after beginning, I realized that sometimes investing in ourselves is the push we need to make a change. It can be an incredible way to create accountability.

Choosing My Lifestyle

When I became a Financial Planner and realized that my blog needed an overhaul. I was burned out and broke from trying to DIY. Suddenly I recognized that my true strengths lied much deeper. Welcome to Families & Finance!

When I quit Financial Planning because it was taking me away from my ideal lifestyle. Even though it was lucrative, and I loved the people I worked with, it stole the freedom to work whenever and wherever I wanted. The level of stress from working outside of the home without dedicated help was debilitating.

I realized that my desire to create the freedo lifestyle is stronger than the instant gratification of having money right away. Luckily, Chris is willing and able to support us on a single income. I want to take advantage of being a stay at home mom while I work towards my dream life.

Trusting My Intuition

When I finally stopped looking outward for answers and started to follow my heart, suddenly my message got a whole lot easier to convey. I finally saw the strings. Because I let myself fail over and over again, I know who I am, and what I’m meant to do for others.

I understand how my business will work, and the steps to take. I’m here to help women like me that have lost themselves find hope and build their dream life, and to build my own while I do it.

The Key To Success Is In Your Hands

Let’s be real. It is hard to tell you everything that I suck at! It is hard to talk about depression and mistakes I’ve made. I am still terrified that people in my life will read my blog or see my posts and judge me.

But it doesn’t matter, because these are the pieces of being a mompreneur-of motherhood!-that are being overlooked.

So I will share, regardless of how embarrassed or afraid I feel while I do it. If I can help one mom take control of her life, and begin to believe in herself again, it’s worth every moment of being uncomfortable.

The key to my success is in my hands. It’s in allowing myself to be vulnerable. To share my story and my mistakes. My wins, big and small. To wake up and decide that I am going to do what needs to be done to move the needle closer to my goals, even if they are big and scary.

The key to your success is inside you as well. Don’t let anything keep you from trying to achieve your dream life. Not depression, money, work, household chores, or a bunch of adorable kids.

Don’t settle. Just smash the obstacles, overcome the struggles, and build your dream life as you go.
